For Students Who Attend OSG Member and Affiliate Schools:
The Online School for Girls will begin accepting registrations from students at member and affiliate schools for the 2013-14 school year courses March 1, 2013 (for Summer 2013 course registration, click here). For 2013-2014 school year courses, students will register for classes through their school’s OSG contact. We strongly recommend that students register for courses well in advance of their start date, as classes are limited to 20 students per section, and for most classes only one section of each class will be offered.
For Students Who Do Not Attend OSG Member and Affiliate Schools:
If a student who does not attend an OSG Member or Affiliate School wants to attend a summer course, they should click here for more information, as the policies for summer courses are different than school year courses.
For school year courses, any girl entering grades 8-12 may apply to take a course with the Online School for Girls, though most courses have prerequisites and most courses are designed for upper level high school students.
Students who do not attend member or affiliate schools should complete the online application here and then provide the Online School for Girls with an official transcript and one teacher recommendation for each course for which they are applying. When applying through our online application, a non-refundable $25.00 application fee is required with all applications. Payment must be made by credit card or echeck and must be made in American dollars.
Once your application is received, you will receive the teacher recommendation form and the record release form. Students should download the Teacher Recommendation Form, and complete the first section, sign it, and give it to the teacher who will write their recommendation.
The recommending teacher should complete the form and return it directly to email@example.com or Online School for Girls, Admissions, 7303 River Road, Bethesda, MD 20817. Students should also complete the Records Release form and submit it to their school. The student’s school should then mail or email a transcript or grade report to firstname.lastname@example.org or Online School for Girls, Admissions, 7303 River Road, Bethesda, MD 20817. NO student can be considered for acceptance until all required documentation has been received.
Families of homeschool girls should complete the online application. Homeschooled girls may submit a “Plan of Study” document in lieu of an official transcript. Please provide titles of all academic subjects studied for each year of homeschooling for the past three years. In addition to course titles, please provide a brief description of major assessments or long-term projects that demonstrated student mastery for each course. If a homeschooled student receives all academic instruction from a parent or relative, she may request a recommendation from someone not related to her who has provided supplemental instruction, such as an art or drama instructor, or an academic tutor. In addition to filling in the teacher recommendation form, this person should indicate in what capacity s/he has worked with the student and his/her relationship to the student.
Admissions Decisions will be sent within two weeks of receipt of all required materials.
