We are pleased to announce that the Online School for Girls will begin offering consulting services for schools interested in creating blended or online courses, and for schools interested in discipline-specific professional development for best practices in twenty-first century learning.

OSG Consulting has developed a standard set of offerings, featured below. In addition, OSG is interested in working with schools to meet their particular needs for online education, blended learning, and best practices for twenty-first century learning. If you or your school is interested in customized offerings, please contact OSGconsulting@onlineschoolforgirls.org.

Special note for affiliated schools: We are pleased to announce a new advantage for becoming a charter affiliate of the Online School for Girls: some of the offerings from OSG Consulting are free of charge for affiliated schools (though we do ask schools to pay for travel expenses). All other OSG Consulting services are offered to OSG charter affiliates with their standard 10% discount.

The OSG Consulting opportunities present an opening for schools to use their professional development time at their schools to advance understandings of online and blended learning, as well as to bring discipline-specific tool sets to classrooms.

Board Workshop
(2 hours + 1 hour consult prior to visit)
$750,  free for affiliated schools

Boards of Trustees are key stakeholders in a school’s move to blended and online learning models for parts of their curriculum—it is important for Boards to be informed of trends in online and blended learning.  This offering introduces boards to key concepts in online and blended learning, both in terms of the larger national picture of the field, and in terms of the impact on independent schools.  The OSG Consultant will also help the Board work through critical questions in relation to online and blended learning (with particular emphasis on the implications of online and blended learning on facilities and budgets).  This consult is for a two-hour Board presentation, one hour of pre-visit consultation, and a reading packet for the Board prior to presentation.

Administrative Workshop
(2 hours + 1 hour consult prior to visit)
$750,  free for affiliated schools

Online and Blended Learning offer great promise for schools, as they offer schools opportunities for: additional courses for students, individualizing learning more significantly, collaborating globally, reducing costs, and exposing students to new learning platforms that are prevalent in post-secondary education.  And yet, it is difficult for schools to find a starting point when exploring options available, as the field is overwhelming and not geared to independent schools.  This workshop helps administrators understand the fields of Online and Blended Learning, and helps administrators ask good questions when exploring options for these fields.

Faculty Presentations
(up to 2 hours + 1 hour consult prior to visit)
$500,  free for affiliated schools

Online and Blended Learning are new concepts for most faculty members in independent schools.  As such, they can be a little scary; there is always some fear of the unknown.  In this presentation, OSG Consultants will help to demystify the concepts of online and/or blended learning, giving faculty an understanding of the fields, as well as effective teaching approaches.

Blended Learning Faculty Workshop
(7.5 hours + 2 hours consult prior to visit + pre-workshop online activity+ 1 hour of follow-up planning)
$3000 ($2700 for affiliated schools)

Schools around the county are looking into “Blended Learning.”  For the last year, OSG has been working to help schools and their faculty understand the concepts of Blended Learning, and to define the field within independent schools (125 faculty members have gone through OSG’s Blended Learning course).  This workshop is a hands-on, day-long offering that will give teachers both a pedagogical basis in Blended Learning concepts, and practical tools that they can take back to their classrooms immediately.

Note about cost of consulting:  Schools are responsible for paying the consultant’s travel expenses, including airfare, lodging, and meals.
