CALENDAR: First semester and full year courses will begin on September 7, 2010. Second semester courses begin on January 18.
REGISTRATION: The Online School for Girls is currently accepting applications. A non-refundable $25.00 application fee is required with all applications from students who are not from one of our member or affiliate schools. Payment must be made by credit card or echeck and must be made in American dollars. We strongly recommend that you apply early. Classes are limited to 20 students, and only one section of each class will be offered.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
STUDENTS FROM MEMBER AND CHARTER AFFILIATE SCHOOLS: The Online School for Girls does not require teacher recommendations or transcripts from students at Member and Charter Affiliate Schools. OSG will verify qualifications and check on pre-requisites directly with your full-time school's administration.
ALL OTHER STUDENTS: All other students must provide the Online School for Girls with an official transcript and with one teacher recommendation for each course for which they are applying. These documents will be sent to you after your online application has been submitted.
After receiving the Teacher Recommendation Form, students should complete the first section, sign it, and give it to the teacher who will write their recommendation. The recommending teacher should complete the form and return it directly to admissions@onlineschoolforgirls.org or Admissions, PO Box 158434, Nashville, TN 37215.
Students should complete the Records Release form and submit it to their school. The student's school should then mail or email a transcript or grade report to admissions@onlineschoolforgirls.org or Admissions, PO Box 158434, Nashville, TN 37215.
NO student can be considered for acceptance until all required documentation has been received.
INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES OF HOMESCHOOLED GIRLS: Homeschooled girls may submit a "Plan of Study" document in lieu of an official transcript. Please provide titles of all academic subjects studied for each year of homeschooling for the past three years. In addition to course titles, please provide a brief description of major assessments or long-term projects that demonstrated student mastery for each course.
If a homeschooled student receives all academic instruction from a parent or relative, she may request a recommendation from someone not related to her who has provided supplemental instruction, such as an art or drama instructor or an academic tutor. In addition to filling in the teacher recommendation form, this person should indicate in what capacity s/he has worked with the student and his/her relationship to the student.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION: Tuition for semester courses is $650 per class. Full-year classes will cost $1,300. We regret that we are unable to offer financial assistance at this time. Tuition discounts for member and affiliate schools will be automatically applied to tuition bills, and OSG will work with your schools directly if they offer payment assistance.
A non-refundable application fee of $25.00 is required with the online application. This fee will be applied to the tuition bill if the student is accepted. Upon acceptance, a minimum non-refundable deposit of $100 for a semester class and $200 for a year-long class will be required. This deposit will also be applied to tuition. All tuition must be paid in full before the first day of classes.
REFUND POLICY: The Online School for Girls will refund tuition (less the non-refundable application fee and deposit) for any reason within 30 days of the date of registration. Thereafter, and until the starting date for the course, refunds will be granted for any reason at 50% of the total tuition. Once a course has begun refunds will not be granted for any reason. Students unable to complete a course due to illness, family trauma, or other highly disruptive events (as determined by the Online School for Girls' administration), will be permitted to complete the course the next semester that course is offered by The Online School for Girls at no additional cost to the student or her family. Classes canceled for insufficient enrollment will be eligible for a full refund.
GRADES AND TRANSCRIPTS: At the end of each semester, parents will receive a grade report from the Online School for Girls. Transcripts are available upon request after courses are completed and grades are entered. Families should keep in mind that different schools will handle credits from other schools differently. The Online School for Girls cannot guarantee that a student's full-time school or district will accept credits earned. All students and parents should talk to representatives at their full-time schools in advance to determine how each school will handle credits earned.
NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY: The Online School for Girls does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, or disability.
ADMISSIONS DECISIONS: Notifications of acceptance will be sent beginning April 5th, and on a rolling basis, within two weeks of receipt of all required materials.
